Deadline for entries: March 09th, 2012
Screenings: May/2012
All moving image media (e.g. films, digital media and multimedia installations) may assume the format of a documentary, docu-drama, drama, or animation that informs and educates on life in York Region. All submissions must be created on or after September 1st, 2009. Submissions will either be selected to be entered in the Professional Adjudication Stream, General Adjudication Stream or the Open Stream.
See Submission Rules & Requirements for additional information.
Applicants are required to self-identify their submission for this particular stream. All other submissions will be sorted into one of the two latter streams as per the Program Committee’s decision.
In other words, all filmmakers are forewarned to ensure that their submission is of professional standard before entering your film/multimedia submission in this particular stream. It is only for professional graded films. Successful submissions will be screened at the film festival and are eligible to be awarded one or more awards.
Only films in this stream are allowed to exceed 16 minutes in length to a maximum of 30 minutes. Films that exceed 16 minutes will automatically be considered an entry to this category regardless of intent and will be accepted or eliminated accordingly.
All films/multimedia summissions that are not self-identified for the "Professional Adjudicated Stream" and are of the proper/legal duration will be sorted into either the Adjudicated (General) Stream or Open Stream:
Submissions of good to excellent quality. These submissions will be screened at the film festival and are eligible to be awarded one or more awards. All submissions in this stream will be separated into the following categories and judged accordingly: Elementary/Children (ages 6-13); Secondary/Youth (14-18); All Inclusive Category (no age restriction).
Submissions that are appropriate for viewing but were not selected to be a part of the multimedia film festival (Adjudicated Stream). These submissions can be potentially screened at alternative venues such as on the festival’s website as well as in schools and community venues either prior to, during, and after the multimedia film festival.
Film and multimedia installations that are selected by the Programming Committee to be screened at the film festival and in turn eligible to receive one or more awards will go through the adjudication process as per the criteria detailed below.
All other film and multimedia installations not selected to be adjudicated will be screened on-line and by way of other alterative venues—prior to, during, and after—the multimedia film festival.
